Women's Basketball Looks For Back-To-Back Wins At NJIT

KENNESAW, Ga.- Kennesaw State women's basketball travels to NJIT on Saturday (Jan. 18) for a ASUN bout with the Highlanders. After defeating Lipscomb last weekend, the Owls seek back-to-back league victories.

Top Storylines

 • The matchup between the Owls and the Highlanders is just the 10th, with Kennesaw State claiming an 8-1 advantage. Last season, NJIT took the game in New Jersey 66-60 before the Owls won at home. 

• The Owls are coming off a 74-66 win at Lipscomb, the Owls first true road win since Feb. 7, 2018 against NJIT. 

Alexis Poole proved to be unstoppable against the Bisons, netting 27 points, including a 10-for-10 performance from the field. The junior also pulled down 11 boards. 

• 3-point shooting has been an issue for the Owls all season (ranked 300th in the NCAA), but the Owls bucked the trend and shot 41.2 percent against Lipscomb. Bre Hoover was impactful from behind the arc as she knocked down five. 

• Kennesaw State has taken advantage of its trips to the free-throw line this season. The Owls rank 20th in the country from the line, shooting at a 76.3 percent clip. 

Alexis Poole has been incredible so far this season for Kennesaw State. She ranks 50th in the country in double-doubles with six in the 14 games that she has played. She has already collected an ASUN Player of the Week award, which came after week one of the season. 

• Poole is efficient from the floor, as she is shooting 59.1 percent, a figure that leads the ASUN and ranks 20th in the country. 

• One of the Owls' keys to victory this season has been rebounding the basketball. When Kennesaw State out-rebounds opponents, the Owls are 6-0 so far this season. When opponents out-rebound KSU, the Owls are 1-7.

• The Highlanders are looking for their first ASUN win of the season. NJIT enters the contest on a seven-game losing streak.

• Tunstall leads the Highlanders in scoring at 13.1 points per game. She is also impressive on the glass, as she grabs 8.6 rebounds per contest. 

• Sharpshooter Dani Evans ranks third in the ASUN in three-point percentage at 44.8 percent from deep. The freshman has knocked down 13 3-pointers this season.
