Match Preview
The Kennesaw State women's tennis hit's the road for a pair of matches starting Friday (Jan. 17) at Kentucky and at Alabama on Sunday (Jan. 19).
 
Scouting Kentucky
Kentucky was 19-9 in 2019. UK fell to Michigan in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Wildcats opened up the 2020 season over the weekend with a 5-2 win over FGCU.
 
Scouting Alabama
Alabama was 18-12 last season. The Crimson Tide fell to UCF in the NCAA regionals.
Lewis Returns to Alma Mater
Kennesaw State assistant coach 
Kirsten Lewis will return to her alma mater on Friday when the Owls face the Wildcats. She played tennis at the University of Kentucky from 2012-16. At UK, she competed in all four spring seasons in both singles and doubles, recorded multiple wins over ranked teams and opponents during her career. She helped lead the Wildcats to four SEC and three NCAA tournament appearances, while serving as team captain and as a Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative. 
Danniel Returns to Tuscaloosa on Sunday
Kennesaw State coach volunteer coach Andie Daniell will return to Alabama on Sunday. Danniel played at Alabama from 2015-18. Daniell was a two-year captain for the Crimson Tide where she played No.1 and No. 2 singles and doubles. She was 86-41 in singles action and 66-60 in doubles action. Her 86 singles wins are tied for tied for eighth most all-time in Alabama history. She was a two-time First Team All-SEC selection and was named the 2019 ITA Southern Region Senior Player of the Year. 
The Series
Friday's match between Kennesaw State and Kentucky will be the second between the two programs since 2019. The Wildcats defeated the Owls 7-0 back in January 2019.
Kennesaw State and Alabama will meet for the second time on Sunday. The Crimson Tide defeated the Owls 4-0 back in February 2019.
 
The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team fell 4-0 and 4-0 in a pair of matches to Georgia Tech on Saturday at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
Georgia Tech (2-0) won the double points and three of the six singles contests to take the opening match of the day.
KSU was paced in the opening match by 
Taylor Dean, 
Aspen Jarrett and 
Tina Vlajic. All three of their matches were unfinished. Jarrett was leading in the second set of her match when the match was called.
In the second match, the Yellow Jackets won four of the six singles matches. Dean, Jarrett and 
Elle Baker led the Owls. Jarrett was leading in the second set of her match when the match was called.
 
Next Up
The Owls will travel to Clemson, SC to face Clemson on Saturday (Jan. 25) at 3 p.m.
