SAPPHIRE VALLEY, N.C. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team opened play at the J.T. Poston Invitational on Monday at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
"Today was a fun day on the course with lots of birdies and mostly beautiful weather," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "Unfortunately, some small but strong storms passed through and soaked an already wet course and we could not finish the second round. It's nice seeing the hard work from home resulting in some low scores especially from the younger players. Preston and Takafumi lead the way with 66s and everyone is in the mix for the second round. I am hopeful we can finish all 54 holes of the event tomorrow and let these guys run up the leaderboard."
The Owls shot a season-best 7-under par 277 in the opening round. Play began in the second round and the Owls had finished 4-6 holes before it was suspended due to heavy rain.
