TOLEDO, OHIO- The Kennesaw State men's golf team sits in a tie for 14
th place after the opening 36 holes of the Inverness Intercollegiate at the Inverness Golf Club on Monday.
KSU fired rounds of 311-308 for a 51-over par total of 619. Tennessee leads the field after the Volunteers posted a 7-over par total of 575 in the opening two rounds.
"Today was one of the most difficult days I remember in a tournament," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "We battled a steady cross breeze, firm greens and tucked hole locations. I am proud of how everyone stayed tough and found a way to improve for the second round. This golf course is major championship material and today we saw its full strength. Tomorrow we will reset and find a way to move up the leaderboard."
Redshirt-sophomore
Ryan Hines led the Owls carding a pair of 6-over par rounds of 77 for a 12-over par total of 154. Hines rolled in 20 pars on Monday and is tied for 56
th.
Preston Topper is just one shot behind Hines. The freshman posted rounds of 78-77 and is tied for 59
th at 13-over par 159.
After struggling in his opening round,
Connor Coffee bounced back with a 6-over par 77 and is tied for 66
th at 15-over par 157.
Brady Keran shot the Owls low round of the day on Monday. The junior carded a 5-over par 76 in the opening round. He is tied for 75
th at 16-over par 158.
Justin Kim opened his 2019-20 season with rounds of 84-77 and sits in 86
th at 19-over par 161.
Brock Healy is playing as an individual this week. He shot rounds of 78-81 for a 17-over par total of 159. Healy is in 84
th place.
The final round of the Inverness Intercollegiate is scheduled to conclude on Tuesday, September 24 at 8:30 a.m. with tee times off the first and tenth holes.
