Men's Golf Schedule
KENNESAW, Ga. – Head coach
Bryant Odom announced the 2019-20 Kennesaw State men's golf schedule on Friday (August 9).
"Our schedule this upcoming season takes on an exciting new look with five new events from last year," Odom said. "Three of these events are completely new to us while the other two have been in and out of our rotation"
The fall season commences at the Carpet Capital Collegiate hosted by Georgia Tech at The Farm Golf Club in Dalton, Ga. Sept. 6-8.
The Owls will play in Inverness Intercollegiate September (23-24) in Toledo, Ohio and the J.T. Poston Invitational in Sapphire, N.C. (Sept. 30 – Oct.1).
KSU will host the Pinetree Intercollegiate for the seventh straight year at nearby Pinetree Country Club October 21 and 22 before closing out the fall portion of the schedule at the Steelwood Intercollegiate hosted by South Alabama on October 26-27.
"We return to The Carpet Capital Collegiate and Steelwood Intercollegiate in the fall, as well as hosting The Pinetree Intercollegiate right here on our home course," Odom said. "The Inverness Intercollegiate and the J.T. Poston Invitational are new events for us. Inverness Club, which hosted the USGA Junior Amateur this summer, is a classic major championship style golf course with an extremely strong field. The J.T. Poston Invitational is special to me as a former coach at Western Carolina and coach to Poston while I was there."
The spring schedule opens March 8-10 at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Auburn. KSU will again co-host the Linger Longer Invitational with Mercer at the The Landing Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. The Owls then head to the Craft Farms Intercollegiate on March 30-31 that will be hosted by South Alabama in Gulf Shores, Ala. KSU opens April with a visit to the Haskins Award Invitational in Augusta, Ga (Apr. 4-5) and then will play on April 13-14 at the Old Waverly Intercollegiate hosted by Mississippi State.
The ASUN Conference Championship returns to Chateau Elan Legends Course in Braselton, Ga., and is slated for April 19-21.
"We start our spring season a few weeks later than in the past, which affords us a longer prep time coming off the winter break," Odom said. "We return to the Tiger Invitational and co-host The Linger Longer Invitational. Our spring break is book ended with two events, one of which is a brand new event in Gulf Shores, Ala. called the Craft Farms Intercollegiate. The Haskins Award Invitational is a tournament we play every other year. We return to Old Waverly Intercollegiate for the first time since 2016 and we begin the postseason at the ASUN Championship at Chateau Elan."
The NCAA Regionals are scheduled for May 17-20 with Auburn, San Diego, LSU, Clemson, Oklahoma and Michigan State serving as hosts. Arizona State will be the host institution for the NCAA Championships slated for May 25-30 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Tempe, Arizona.
"We are excited about the new venues and layout of this schedule as well as the eight team members who will fight for their spot to compete each event," Odom said.
The Owls return five players from last year's team and welcome in three very talented newcomers.
