ASUN Release
ATLANTA, Ga. – Redshirt senior thrower Daniel Haugh was named Kennesaw State's representative on the ASUN Conference 2018-19 Spring Winners for Life team Tuesday. The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the nine institutions and honors those who display excellence on-and-off the playing surface.
KSU's first National Champion in the Division I era, and first in ASUN history, Haugh took home top honors in the hammer throw with a toss of 74.63m. The NCAA Championship earned Haugh the first Outdoor First Team All-American title in men's program history.
Haugh rewrote the record book at KSU with marks of 56.77m in the discus and 75.55m in the hammer throw, more than 10 meters farther than the previous record.
The Marietta, Ga., native won the ASUN Individual Championships in both discus and hammer throw, breaking the ASUN Championship record for both disciplines, before going on to earn the conference's Most Outstanding Field Performer for the 2018-19 season.
Off the field, Haugh maintained a 3.0 GPA as a graduate student in the KSU Master of Public Administration program while volunteering with the Georgia Meet of Champions and the Peachtree Road Race.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility, and Sportsmanship.
