Owls Wrap Up Record-Setting Season at NCAA Auburn Regional

OPELIKA, Ala.
- The No. 35 Kennesaw State women's golf team closed its 2018-19 season at the NCAA Auburn Regional on Wednesday at Saugahatchee Country Club.
 
"Today was more like what this team was capable of," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "It's nice to end the season with a decent round and more smiles on the course than the previous two rounds. NCAA regionals is make or break and we simply did not have it this week. But that doesn't define our season. Thank you to our seniors for all they have done to make this program what it is! This season was record setting and we took the program to new levels. We are looking forward to some rest and regrouping and know that this squad has set the foundation for the future."
 
The Owls recorded a 7-over par 295 in the final round to finish 14th at 41-over par 905. KSU wraps up a season that saw them finish in the top five eight times, win a program-best three events and set a new program record with a 294.17 scoring average. No. 6 Vanderbilt won the event at 4-under par 860.
 
KSU bids farewell to Charlotte Charrayre,  Medy Thavong and Roanne Tomlinson. The three combined to play in 258 rounds, collect six victories and led the Owls to back-to-back NCAA postseason appearances.
 
Tomlinson carded a 2-over par 74 in her final collegiate round. The senior rolled in 13 pars and two birdies on Wednesday. She finished in a tie for 21st at 3-over par 219. Tomlinson was the Owls top finisher in a NCAA Regional for the second consecutive season. The Lake Mary, Fla. native led the Owls with 37 pars in the tournament.
 
Clara Aveling posted her lowest round of the tournament with a 1-over par 73 in the final round. The ASUN Player of the Year played her final nine holes at even par and finished tied for 57th at 10-over par 226.
 
Chloe Thornton fired her second consecutive round of 2-over par 74 on Wednesday. The freshman opened her round with seven consecutive pars and birdied her second to last hole of the day. She concluded tied for 62nd at 12-over par 228.
 
Charrayre concluded her collegiate career with her lowest round of the tournament. The senior shot a 2-over par 74. The senior started her final round with 10 consecutive pars. She took home a tie for 77th at 16-over par 232.
 
Medy Thavong finished tied for 90th at 24-over par 240. She played her final nine holes at even par and posted a 6-over par 78.
