DELAND, Fla. –The No. 4 Kennesaw State men's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 1 FGCU on Saturday (April 21) in the ASUNSemifinals at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
The match began on Friday morning and after doubles play was pushed to Saturday because of inclement weather.
Â
"Credit to FGCU today," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "Our guys played their hearts out and left everything on the court. FGCU was just a little more experienced today.  As one of the youngest teams in the country, getting this tournament experience will pay huge dividends moving forward. A lot was asked of this team this season and I loved the way everyone responded to the challenge. The future is bright for the Owls."
FGCU won two doubles matches and came out on top in the three singles matches that were completed.
Fermin Calvo Barcelo and
Sebastian Osorio were leading their singles matches when the Eagles clinched the victory.Â
This marked the final match for seniors
Fermin Calvo Barcelo and
Lucas de Torres Curth.Â
"I want to thank our two seniors, Fermin and Lucas," Emery said. "Their leadership and buy-in this season was invaluable and certainly made our jobs as a staff easier. They will always hold a special place in my heart as a coach."
The Owls will begin prepping for the 2019-20 season, which begins in the fall.
