ATHENS, Ga. – The No.45 Kennesaw State women's golf team tied Louisville in the final day of match play at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Saturday.
The Owls tied Louisville 2.5-2.5 in the seventh place match. The two teams ended in a tie because the two matches each team won were decided by the same margins and the fifth match finished all-square.
"We had a lot of fun on the course today battling Louisville," Head Coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We played our best match play golf today and fought back down on 18 to square and win a match. This was an ideal lead up to ASUN Championship, as we were able to play stress free golf and work on execution. We are still pleased with the title win for the stroke play portion of the Liz Murphey. This is a huge accomplishment for the program."
Roanne Tomlinson got the Owls on the board first. Tomlinson was 2-down through 16 holes of her match. The senior responded by winning the final two holes to halve her match.
Chloe Thornton led or was tied for the majority of her match. She was able to pick up wins in her final two holes to clinch the match 2-up and earn the Owls a full point.
In the final match of the day, senior
Medy Thavong grabbed the lead in her match on her ninth hole of the day and never relinquished. She grabbed a 2&1 win in her match.
