KENNESAW, Ga. – Tyler Blalock and
Abigail Chanase of the Kennesaw State track and field teams were tabbed ASUN Field Athletes of the Week the conference announced on Wednesday.
Both earned the awards after posting strong performances at the North Florida Invitational on Friday (Apr. 5).
Blalock was named ASUN Men's Field Athlete of the Week. The sophomore set the school record in the shot put with a toss of 18.00m ("59'0.75") to win the event. That toss ranks second in the ASUN, 21
st in the NCAA East Region and 47
th in the NCAA this season. He also landed a career-best discus toss of 43.49m (142'8") to finish ninth. This is his first ASUN Outdoor Filed Athlete of the Week Award.
Chanse collected the ASUN Women's Filed Athlete of the Week Award for the first time in her career. She finished second in the Placed second in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 12.12m (39'9.25). That jump ranks second in the ASUN and 66
th in the NCAA East Region.
The Owls will take a week off before returning to action on April 19-20 at the Virginia Challenge, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
