Final Results
PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico. – The No. 37 Kennesaw State women's golf team secured a tie for second place after the final round of the Hawkeye El-Tigre Invitational at the par-72, 6,085-yard El Tigre Golf and Country Club.
KSU recorded a 1-over par 289 in the final round for a 26-over par total 890 for the tournament. The Owls collected key wins over No. 35 Tennessee, BYU and Colorado State. No. 10 Arizona won the 12-team event at 10-under par 864.
"We did exactly what I knew this team was capable of and we fought until the end, saving our best for last," Head Coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Finishing tied for second given we didn't play our best golf this week is a really great result. I am so proud of the whole lineup and for Medy for playing such a great event. This is always a challenging course with the setup and wind and our execution today was excellent. This is a great finish and Eric and I are so proud."
Medy Thavong led the Owls finishing fourth with an even par total of 216. The senior carded a 2-under par 70 with 16 pars and two birdies in the final round. Her 44 pars for the tournament led the field.
Chloe Thornton posted a 2-over par 74 on Saturday. She finished tied for ninth at 4-over par 220.
Roanne Tomlinson recorded her low round of the tournament on Saturday. She fired a 2-under par 70 with 14 pars and 3 birdies. She finished tied for 31
st at 11-over par 227.
Clara Aveling shot 3-over par 75 to finish tied for 39
th with a 14-over par total of 230.
Charlotte Charrayre finished tied for 46
th at 17-over par 233 for the tournament.
The Owls will head to the Brickyard Intercollegiate (Apr. 8-9) in Macon, Georgia.
