Box ScoreĀ

KENNESAW, Ga.- The Kennesaw State men's tennis team returned to the win column with a 4-3 victory over Jacksonville State on Tuesday (Mar.19) at the Betty Siegel Courts.
Ā
"We were very proud of the guys today," Director of Tennis Matt Emery said. "We lost four tough ones the past couple of weeks and left a little bit on the table each time. What the men have done great is learn from those mistakes and come back fired up to get back out there and not make the same mistakes again. That is the sign of a motivated team and it is not an easy thing to do. I know they are hungry to show up again tomorrow and compete like warriors against a very good Tennessee Tech team."
Ā
The Gamecocks grabbed the doubles point winning two of the three doubles matches. KSU would get a win from Fermin Calvo Barcelo and Gaston Muhammad who beat Guillermo Agost and Jordi Blanchar 6-3 at No. 2.
Ā
Sebastian Osorio got the Owls on the board with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sergio Lizarraga at No. 5. Fermin Calvo Barcelo picked up a 7-6, 6-2 win over Ajaz Kaplja. That win for Calvo Barcelo was the 62nd of his singles career and it moved him past assistant coach Simon Pritchard for the most singles wins in program history. Bryan Triana picked up a win at No. 3 defeating Guillermo Agost 6-4, 6-4. Gaston Muhammad clinched the Owls victory with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-0 win over Alexander Vishnevskiy at No. 4.
Ā
"Obviously a tremendous accomplishment today for Fermin. Even though I've only been with Fermin for less than a year, I can tell you that no one is more deserving. Records like this one are determined by what a player does consistently, not just on one day, which is why it is such a special accomplishment," Emery said.

The Owls return to the court on Wednesday (Mar.20) against Tennessee Tech on the Betty Siegel Courts. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
