Owls Soar North for St. Patrick's Day Showdown with Gardner-Webb

Match Preview
The Kennesaw State men's tennis squad hits the road to face Gardner-Webb on Sunday (Mar.17).
 
The Owls are looking to get back to their winning ways. KSU has dropped its last two matches 4-3 to Georgia Southern and Cleveland State.
 
Fermin Calvo Barcelo enters the match on Sunday tied with assistant coach Simon Pritchard for the most singles wins in program history with 61.   
 
Scouting Gardner-Webb
Gardner-Webb is 4-5 so far on the season. The Runnin' Bulldogs beat Campbell 5-2 on Friday, March 15. Maximilian Scholl paces GWU with a 7-1 record this season.

The Series
Sunday's match marks the second meeting between the two programs. KSU defeated GWU 4-0 in Kennesaw last season.

The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State men's tennis team rallied but came up on the short end of a 4-3 decision to Cleveland State on Wednesday (Mar.13) at the Betty Siegel Courts.
 
The Vikings picked up the doubles point winning two of the three matches. Gaston Muhammad and Fermin Calvo Barcelo were leading 4-1 against Raul Teichmann and Clark Bilinovich when the Vikings clinched the point.
 
The Owls would take the opening two matches of singles to grab a 2-1 lead in the match. Fermin Calvo Barcelo defeated Nico Mostardi 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1. That win for Calvo Barcelo tied him with current assistant coach Simon Pritchard for the most all-time singles wins in program history with 61. Gaston Muhammad got past Benjamin Slade 6-3, 7-5 at No. 5 to give the Owls the lead. The Vikings proceeded to take the next three tightly contested singles matches to clinch the match. Sebastian Osorio picked up the Owls third and final point of the match with a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 win over Luke Phillips at No. 3.

Next Up
The Owls return home to face Jacksonville State on Tuesday, March 19th at 3 p.m. on the Betty Siegel Courts at KSU.
