Sansing Captures 1000th Win As KSU Skipper in Win Over PC

KENNESAW, Ga. – On a special night for Head Coach Mike Sansing, Kennesaw State completed the midweek sweep of Presbyterian 7-3 on Wednesday (March 13) night.

With the win, Sansing earned his 1,000th win as the KSU skipper. With 1,102 wins in his career, Sansing ranks ninth among active Division I head coaches in total wins.

"That's just attributed to a lot of great players that we've had, some great teams. I'm just appreciative of those guys that have come here," said Sansing.

The Owls did not take their time scoring in the contest, plating a pair of runs in the opening frame. Garrett Hodges singled to right field to bring home Terence Norman before David Chabut singled to third, which scored Jake Franklin. Kennesaw State tacked on two more runs in the fourth inning after an RBI single to right field off of the bat of Darius Diaz and an error by the Presbyterian defense.

The Blue Hose kept nagging the Owls, plating three runs in the fifth inning to cut the lead to just two runs. A second error from Presbyterian helped the Owls capture a run in the sixth inning before KSU scored a pair in the seventh.

After Norman walked with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Franklin reached on a fielder's choice before Hodges reached on an error by the Presbyterian third baseman. Chabut smoked a ball up the middle to score Franklin for the Owls' first run of the seventh.

Diaz recorded his second RBI of the night after scoring Hodges on a single.

The Owls ended the scoring there, going on to win 7-3. After Rhian Mann pitched an inning, Jared Staples hurled a pair of innings of hitless baseball to close the contest.
