KENNESAW, Ga. – Jordan Gray,
Katie Meyer and
Julija Tarvide of the Kennesaw State women's track and field team were named to the ASUN Indoor All-Academic Team the conference announced Tuesday (Mar.12)
Gray carries a 3.54 GPA while majoring in integrative studies. She took the gold medal in the pentathlon with an ASUN Championship and facility record 4202 points. She became the first female in conference history ever to win an event four times. Gray won the 60m hurdles (8.74), shot put with a toss of 14.33m (47'0.25") and the long jump with a leap of 5.90m (19'7.5"). The senior would take home the silver medal in the shot put with a career-best toss of 14.66m (48'1.25"). That throw set a new school record in the event. She was also second in the pole vault and was fifth in the high jump at the ASUN Championship. She won the long jump at the ASUN Championship leaping 6.05m (19'1.25"). The Ball Ground, Ga. native scored 38 points and was named Women's MVP and Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Meet. Gray finished second in the pentathlon with a career-best 4412 points and 14
th at NCAA Indoor Championships in the long jump. Gray finished the season ranked 14th in the world and No.3 in the United States in the pentathlon. This is Gray's second appearance on the ASUN Indoor All-Academic Team.
Meyer holds a 4.0 GPA while majoring in environmental engineering. She competed in six meets. The sophomore finished fourth in the 5K with a time of 18:37.42 at the ETSU Track and Field Invitational. The Roswell, Ga. native took fifth in the Mile at the Samford Invite with a career-best time of 5:14.82. She ran her career-best 3K time of 10:31.32 at the Liberty Kickoff and helped the Owls finish fourth in the DMR at the ASUN Championships in a time of 11:49.64 to establish a new school record. She would close out her season with a career-best time of 17:53.19 to finish 10th in the 5K at the ASUN
Championship. This is Meyer's first appearance on the ASUN Indoor All-Academic Team.
Tarvide owns a 3.82 GPA while majoring in political science. Tarvide competed in five meets. She finished first or second in the high jump in four of those five meets. The junior won the high jump at the ETSU Track and Field Invitational clearing a career-best and 1.76m (5'9.25") to set a new school record. She won the high jump at the Liberty Kickoff with a clearance of 1.70m (5'7") and collected the gold medal at the ASUN Championship with a clearance of 1.75m (5'8.75"). This is Tarvide's second appearance on the ASUN Indoor All-Academic Team.
The Owls open the outdoor season March 15-16 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
