Owls in 10th After Opening Round of Tiger Invitational

OPELIKA, Ala. – Playing in windy and wet conditions, the Kennesaw State men's golf team shot a 15-over par 303 Sunday during the first round of the Tiger Invitational at the par-72, 7,289-yard Grand National Lake Course in Opelika, Alabama.
 
Senior Wyatt Larkin posted an even-par 72 to lead the Owls, who are in 10th place in the 16-team event. Twenty-first-ranked Arkansas State leads the field at 5-under par 283 and is the only team under par after 18 holes. Host Auburn (293, +5) is second.
 
"The blustery winds got the best of us early in the round today, but our attitude and effort remained steadfast," head coach Bryant Odom said. "Overall, I am very proud of the determination and comeback on our back nine. I know the guys are eager for the next two rounds and the opportunity for improvement."
 
After starting on the more difficult back nine and shooting 2-over par through nine holes, Larkin recorded four birdies card a 2-under on his final nine and is tied for sixth.
 
Senior Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres and junior Connor Coffee are tied for 32nd after shooting 3-over par scores of 75. Sophomore Brady Keran (81) and Grant Sutliff (82) are tied for 70th and 74th, respectively. Freshman Ryan Hines, who is playing as an individual is tied for 81st.
 
The second round gets underway at 8:50 a.m. (ET) and the Owls will be grouped with UNC Wilmington and Missouri and starting on the first hole. All the action can be followed live at www.golgstatresults.com.
