KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team came up short 6-1 to Western Carolina on Saturday (Feb.16) at the Betty Siegel Courts at KSU.
The Catamounts won the doubles point picking up two wins.
Brenna Reilly and
Jessica Cantrell took down Lauren McCall and Alexa Webb 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
The Owls (0-8) lone point of the day came from
Jessica Cantrell who beat Alexa Webb, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. The Catamounts would win the remaining five singles matches.
"Unfortunately, we left a lot on the table today competitively," Director of Tennis
Matt Emery said. "At No.1 doubles, we were up 5-1 and we took our foot off the gas. Credit to WCU for taking that opportunity to snag the momentum and running with it.It was great to see Jess get a solid win after coming back from her injury. It is great to have her back 100%. In several singles spots, we were just too focused on the things we were not doing well instead of what we were doing well. We will learn from it and get back to work on Monday."
KSU will host Murray State on Sunday (Feb.17) at 11 a.m. at the Betty Siegel Courts on the campus of KSU. Admission is free to all matches.
