Brenda Ayuk and Chuck McConville picked up ASUN Track, Field and Freshman of the Week awards the conference announced on Wednesday (Feb.13). The trio of Owls were recognized for their strong performances at the Bulldog Invite on (Feb. 8)
Jordan Gray was named ASUN Women's Field Athlete of the Week. Gray won the long jump with a leap of 6.17 (20.3). That jump ranks No. 2 all-time in KSU history. She had a career-best clearance of 3.65m (11' 11.75") in the pole to finish fifth. That vault ranks third this season in the ASUN Conference. The redshirt senior was sixth in the high jump with a clearance of 1.65m (5'5").
Chuck McConville won the ASUN Field Athlete of the Week Award. The senior landed a career-best toss of 18.29m (60'0.25") to finish fourth in the weight throw at the Bulldog Invite. That toss ranks No. 1 in the ASUN this season by almost nine feet.
Brenda Ayuk collected her first ASUN Women's Freshman of the Week Award. Ayuk ran a time of 4:43.84 in the mile to finish third. That time is the second-fastest time in school history. She returned to the track less than an hour later and won the 800m with a time of 2:12.25. That time ranks third in program history in the 800m.
The Owls will return to Lynchburg, Virginia for the ASUN Indoor Championships on February 22-23.
