MOBILE, Ala. – The final round of the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate at Magnolia Grove Crossings Golf Course in Mobile, Alabama was cancelled due to inclement weather and unplayable conditions.
The 54-hole event was shortened to 36 holes after teams were able to play two holes on Tuesday before play was halted. The Kennesaw State men's golf team finished the tournament in 12th place after recording rounds of 290-291 for a 5-over par 139 total on Monday.
Florida State captured the team title for a second straight year after posting a 23-under par 139 score to record a five-shot victory over Louisville (558; -18).
"Unfortunately, the weather this morning was too much for the course and the event was cancelled after 36 holes," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "It is disappointing because we really wanted a chance to improve our position."
Senior
Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres turned in a pair of solid rounds during the opening day, shooting rounds of 70-69 for a 5-under par 139 total to tie for sixth place, six shots behind Florida State's John Pak, who claimed individual medalist honors with an 11-under par 133 total.
Kennesaw State is next in action Feb. 24-26 when it competes in the Tiger Invitational hosted by Auburn University at the Grand National Lakes Golf Course in Opelika, Alabama.
