KENNESAW, Ga. – The Kennesaw State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to UAB on Friday (Feb.1) at the Betty Siegel Courts at KSU.
Â
The Blazers (2-2) won the doubles point collecting wins in two of the three doubles matches.
Â
In singles,
Kendall Nash picked up her first collegiate win knocking off Megan Bertrands 6-2, 6-4 at No.3 singles. After dropping the first set,
Juliana Castellanos won the second set before falling 10-8 in a tiebreaker in the third set.
 Â
"Tough match today," Director of TennisÂ
Matt Emery said. " UAB is a tough team from the standpoint that they compete well and have no holes in their lineup. As a team, we came out just a little bit flat at the start of the doubles and UAB jumped on that opportunity. In singles, we had a couple of spots where we never quite dug our teeth into the match. I was very proud of Kendall and Juliana today. Kendall played a complete match and took out a very good player. Juliana proved again she can compete with anybody and she is playing better and more confident each match. We have no doubts that the girls will bounce back even stronger tomorrow."
Â
The Owls (0-5) host UNC Wilmington on Saturday (Feb.2) at 12 p.m. at the Betty Siegel Courts on the campus of KSU. Admission is free to all matches.
