KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State men's golf head coach
Bryant Odom announced the additions of Luke Phillips and Tomas Beguiristain, who will join the team for the 2020-21 season.
Phillips is currently ranked No.1 in the Georgia 2020 class and No.79 nationally. He currently attends Starr's Mill High School in Peachtree City, Ga. He won the Class 5A Individual state championship as a junior and helped lead his team to a pair of state championships during his sophomore and junior seasons.
"Luke is a mature young man with incredible golf talent and dedication to academic success," Odom said. "He has shown the ability to shoot low scores, contend consistently and win golf tournaments. Luke is an all-around athlete in other sports as well. Luke will make an immediate impact for our program next fall."
Beguiristain is currently ranked 35th in the Spain 18 & Under rankings and 998
th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He currently attends Colegio Leones. He recently picked up wins at the Basque, Neguri and Basozabal Championships.
"Tomas is an exciting young player from Spain with international competitive experience," Odom said. "Tomas is currently a member of the Spanish national team and studies at an academy away from his home setup much like college. Tomas is eager to study in the United States and pursue his dream of college golf and the business program at KSU. Much like Luke, Tomas will become an immediate asset to our team on and off the course."
The Owls will open the spring portion of 2019-20 schedule at the Tiger Invitational hosted by Auburn on March 8-10 in Opelika, Ala.
