Seven Owls Set to Compete at NCAA South Region Championships

Race Preview
Seven members of the Kennesaw State cross country teams will compete in the NCAA South Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 15 at the Apalachee Regional Park.
 
FSU is the host school for this year's NCAA South Regional.
 
The men's team will be represented by Austin Muse, Koi Williams and Mekhi Williams. Katie Meyer, Sarah Hendrick, Hope Thornton and Ella Weaver will run for the KSU women.
  
The women's 6k race is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. The men's 10k race will begin at 9:30 a.m.


Owls Post Solid Performances at ASUN Championships
The Kennesaw State cross country teams competed in the ASUN Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Buckingham Complex.
 
The women's team took home third place while the men's team finished eighth.
 
In the women's 5K, Sarah Hendrick finished eighth with a time of 17:40.40. That finish earned her ASUN Second Team All-Conference honors. Katie Meyer was the second Owl to cross the line. She finished 15th in 18:03.43. Rachel Van Amburgh took home 23rd in a time of 18;35.64. Ellla Weaver earned as spot on the ASUN All-Freshmen team after posting a time of 19:25.92 to finish 37th. Jordan Rozer (19:29.04) and Hope Thornton (19:35.08) finished 40th and 43rd overall.
 
In the men's 8K, Mekhi Williams led the way for KSU again. He recorded a time of 26:03.3 to finish 29th. Koi Williams (26:51.55) and Peter Brooks (27:06.61) grabbed 50th and 55th. Cameron Paulk ran a time of 28:48.34 to finish 63.  Austin Muse crossed the line in 29:06.76 to finish 66th and round out the scoring for the Owls.
 
 Notes
- Sarah Hendrick became the first Owl to earn ASUN Second Team All-Conference honors since Caitlyn Farrell in 2017.
- Ella Weaver is the first Owl to collect  All-Freshmen honors since Lexi Froh in 2016.
- The women's team's finish was their best since 2009. 
 
Next Up
The Owls return to action on Friday, Nov. 23 at the NCAA Championships if any of the seven qualify. If not, they will be back in action on Saturday (Dec.6) when the indoor track and field season gets underway at the Clemson Opener.
