KENNESAW, Ga. The Kennesaw State men's golf team posted a 3-over par 579 and is in second place after 36 holes of the Pinetree Intercollegiate that opened Monday at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw.
"Today was a lot of great golf with contributions from everyone," head coach Bryat Odom said. "This morning's we started well and continued our momentum into a strong finish. This afternoon was pretty much the opposite with a slower start and some lost shots down the stretch. If we can clean up the unforced errors on the greens, we will have a great opportunity of winning this tournament."
The Owls are in solo second and sit just two shots behind Mercer who carded a 3-over par 577. KSU recorded rounds of 284-295 during the first two rounds. The Owls opening round of 4-under par 284 was their lowest round of the season.
Ryan Hines guided the Owls on Monday with rounds of 69-74 for a 1-under par total of 143. Hines is tied for seventh. After a bogey to open the first round, he made 13 pars and four birdies over the final 17 holes. His 69 in the first round was the Owls low round of the day.
Preston Topper (71-75) is tied for 13
th at 2-over par 146 and
Brock Healy (71-76) is tied for 15
th at 3-over par 147. Topper made 26 pars on Monday which is tied for third-most in the field.
Brady Keran (73-77) carded a 6-over par 150 and
Connor Coffee (82-70) posted an 8-over total of 152. Keran is tied for 30
th while Coffee is tied for 37
th.
Justin Kim played as an individual and sits in 59
th place.
The Owls will tee off on Tuesday (Oct. 22) in the final round of the Pinetree Intercollegiate between 8:45-9:21 a.m.
