Final Results
SAPPHIRE VALLEY, N.C. – The Kennesaw State men's golf team took home a tie for 10
th place at the J.T. Poston Invitational on Tuesday at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley.
"We played a lot of good golf this week and had a lot of par or better scores count," head coach
Bryant Odom said. "I am really proud of some of the younger guys for stepping up and posting low scores. The team is moving in the right direction with a few weeks off before our home tournament. Today, we just could not get the putters going so we could not get any momentum. I know the guys are excited about the trends in their games and a few weeks to sharpen up before Pinetree."
KSU recorded a 286 in round two and 287 in the final round for a total of 2-under par total of 850 for the event. Georgia Southern shot 47-under par 805 to win the event.
Preston Topper posted rounds of 69 and 73 on Tuesday. He played the final 11 holes of his second round in 2-under par and closed his third round with 5 consecutive pars. He finished in a tie for 16
th at 5-under par 208.
Brock Healy carded rounds of 74-70. He tied for 37
th at 1-under par 212 for the tournament.
Brady Keran and
Ryan Hines finished tied for 52
nd at 3-over par 216.
Connor Coffee finished tied for 69
th at 8-over par 221 after rounds of 73-74 on Tuesday. Hines made eagle on par-5 14
th hole during his second round.
Playing as an individual this week,
Takafumi Shimoji finished tied for 22
nd at 4-under 209. The freshman shot 72-71 on Tuesday.
The Owls will return to action Oct. 21– Oct. 22 when it hosts the Pinetree Intercollegiate at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw, Ga.
