The Kennesaw State women's tennis team begins its 2019 spring dual match schedule on Tuesday (Jan.16) when it travels to Lexington, Kentucky for a showdown with Kentucky.

The Owls are beginning their 11th season at the NCAA Division I level that dates back to 2008. KSU is coming off a 3-15 season in 2018 and expect progress to be made in 2019.

Scouting Kentucky
Kentucky was 14-11 last season. They fell in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament to Kansas State.Â
The Series
Wednesday's match between Kennesaw State and Kentucky will be the first between the two programs. Kentucky is the just second SEC school KSU has faced. KSU was blanked 7-0 by Auburn to open the 2011 spring season. Â
Lewis Returns to Alma Mater

Kirsten Lewis will return to her alma mater on Wednesday when the Owls face the Wildcats. She played tennis at the University of Kentucky from 2012-16. At UK, she competed in all four spring seasons in both singles and doubles, recorded multiple wins over ranked teams and opponents during her career. She helped lead the Wildcats to four SEC and three NCAA tournament appearances, while serving as team captain and as a Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative.Â
The Last Time Out
The Kennesaw State women's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule by competing in the Furman Duals this weekend in Greenville, S.C.

In doubles action,
Jessica Cantrell and
Brenna Reilly made it to another final in their flight with a win over Beth Lacey and Shelley Ray of Presbyterian 6-1 in the first round. In the second round, they took down Yana Morar and Femcke van Rensburg of Charleston Southern 6-3 and Grace Waldron and Tyler Kirk of Charleston Southern 6-2 in round 3.
Aspen Jarrett and
Kendall Nash collected a win over Grace Hashiguchi and Anna Dollar of Liberty 6-3 on Saturday.

In singles,
Kendall Nash won a pair of singles on Saturday defeating Elizabeth Williams of Charleston Southern 6-3, 0-6, 11-9 and Claudia De Andreis of Wingate 7-5, 6-2.
Aspen Jarrett defeated Tracy Johnson of Presbyterian 7-5, 6-2.
Brenna Reilly closed out the fall with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Beth Lacey of Presbyterian.
Next Up
The Owls host Arkansas for a doubleheader at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the Betty Siegel Courts at KSU. Admission is free to all home matches.
