ATHENS, Ga. – The Kennesaw State men's tennis team wrapped up action at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships hosted by the University of Georgia on Sunday.
Freshman
Gaston Muhammad opened the day with a 6-0, 6-2 over Nicholas Ulehla of Gardner-Webb in the Division III Singles Semifinals. Muhammad would come up on the short end of a 6-3, 6-3 decision to Luis Fernandes Labarta of FAU in the Division III Final.
"Gaston did a fantastic job in his semifinal match getting it done against a strong opponent," Assistant Coach
Simon Pritchard said. "I'm very proud of him for making the final such a prestigious tournament, especially with it being the first college tournament of his career."
Fermin Calvo Barcelo collected a 6-4, 6-2 win over Manoel Alencar of Central Florida in Consolation action.
The Owls are back on the court at the Oracle ITA Masters on Sept.20-23 in Malibu, California.
