TULSA, Okla. –
Fermin Calvo Barcelo collected a win in the prequalifying round at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday.
"Fermin played a solid match in some tricky conditions today," assistant coach
Simon Pritchard said. "I am pleased with how focused he is on playing to his strengths on the big points. He is looking forward to another opportunity to play again tomorrow."
Calvo Barcelo picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lenhard Haupt of Western Michigan. The win advances Calvo Barcelo to the Round of 64 in prequalifying on Sunday (Sept.30). He will take on Eduardo Roldan of TCU at 9 a.m. Calvo Barcelo will need to win two matches on Sunday to advance to the qualifying stages of the tournament.
Pre-qualifying matches will be held Sept.29-30. Qualifying singles and doubles will be held October 1-2, with main draw matches transpiring between October 4-8.
