SHOAL CREEK, Ala. – Senior Jake Fendt led the Kennesaw State men's golf team during Monday's opening day of the Shoal Creek Invitational at the Shoal Creek Golf Club in Shoal Creek, Ala.

Fendt's first-round 3-under par 69 highlighted an opening-round even par total of 288 that had the Owls tied with Texas A&M for third place following 18 holes, four shots behind North Florida, which led the 14-team field at 4-under par 284.

The tournament was scheduled for 36 holes on Monday, but a late afternoon thunderstorm suspended second-round play with Kennesaw State at even par and unofficially tied for fourth.

"We still have a few holes left in the second round, but our play has been very solid today," head coach Bryant Odom said. "We are within striking distance of the leaders and hope to make a move tomorrow."

Texas A&M is the current leader at 6-under par, one shot ahead of North Florida (-5).

Individually, Fendt is tied for fourth, three shots behind North Florida's Travis Trace and Georgia Southern's Steven Fisk. Both players are 6-under par.

Junior Connor Coffee is tied for seventh after opening with a 1-under par 71. Seniors Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres (75) and Wyatt Larkin (73) are tied for 26th and 47th through 33 and 30 holes, respectively.

Sophomore Brady Keran is tied for 77th after shooting a first-round score of 5-over par 77.

Play resumes Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. (ET) and all the action can be followed live at www.golfstatresults.com.
