WG: Owls in Third after First Round at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team began its 2018-19 season at the Lady Paladin Invitational on Friday (Sept. 21) and sit in third place after the first round at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Course.
 
"We're very pleased with this opening round," Kennesaw State head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We received solid scores from the entire lineup. This is very encouraging for early in the season when nerves can be high. I'm proud of their patience and look forward to playing in the lead pairing tomorrow."

KSU registered a 2-over par total of 290 in its first round with senior Charlotte Charrayre leading the Owls with a 2-under par score of 70 with a pair of birdies on her opening two holes. Charrayre is tied for fifth overall. 
 
"Charlottes round was very impressive," Brinsmead said. "She gave herself birdie chances all day. It was a fun round to watch."

Senior Madison Caldwell turned in an even-par round of 72 is in a tie for 12th place.

Senior Roanne Tomlinson closed with birdies on two of her final three holes to post a 1-over par 73 in her opening round. She is tied for 20th.
 
Freshman Chloe Thornton and redshirt-junior Clara Aveling carded rounds of 3-over par 75 and are tied for 33rd. 

Furman leads the 17-team event after posting a 5-under par total of 283 after the first 18 holes of action. Lorena Tseng of Tulsa and Haylee Hartford of Furman lead all individuals after posting 4-under par rounds of 68 in the first round.

The Owls continue play at the Lady Paladin Invitational in the second round on Saturday (Sept. 22). Live scoring for the second round is available here.
