KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State track and field's Aliyah Whisby has been named to the ASUN Spring Winners for Life Team, the conference announced Friday afternoon.
The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the eight institutions from the 2017-18 academic year and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
Whisby competed in eight meets, including five heptathlons during the outdoor season. She picked up two regular-season heptathlon wins at the Joe Walker Invitational (5,286 points) and Hurricane Alumni Invitational (5,480 points). The Newnan, Ga. native then qualified for the NCAA Championships by scoring a career-best 5,580 points (sixth) at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
She won the heptathlon at the ASUN Championships scoring 5,028 points and collected the gold medal in the high jump with a clearance of 1.69m (5-6.5). She was also second in long jump and fifth in the javelin to help secure her ASUN Most Valuable Performer honors.
The redshirt freshman finished 13th in the NCAA East Preliminaries in the high jump with a clearance of 1.75m (5-8.75) and took home 17th in the finals of the heptathlon at the NCAA Championships, scoring 5,490 points.
