TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The No.45 Kennesaw State women's golf team wrapped up its strong season at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional on Wednesday at the par-72 Don Veller Seminole Golf Course.
The Owls recorded an 8-over par 296 in the final round and finished 14th with a three-round total of 21-over par 885. KSU's score of 885 is the lowest total score shot by an Owls team in a NCAA Regional. KSU concludes a season that saw them finish in the top five nine times and post a 108-39 record. No. 2 Alabama won the event at 33-under par 831.
"That is a wrap on a record breaking 2017/18 season," head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "I could not be more proud of this team and all they've accomplished. They will be the first team in program history to finish the season ranked inside the top 50, win an ASUN championship and shoot a post season 54-hole scoring record. It is amazing to reflect on what we have accomplished this year and the foundation for the future. We will miss Henriette tremendously but she has laid the foundation for the future success of this program. Thank you Henri for everything you've done!"
Roanne Tomlinson posted a 2-under par 70 in the final round to lead the Owls. Her score tied Madison Caldwell for the lowest by an Owl in a NCAA Regional. Tomlinson shot a 3-under par 33 over her final nine holes. She finished tied for 30th at 1-over par 217. Her 54-hole total score was also the lowest by an Owl at an NCAA Regional. This marked the third time that Tomlinson was the Owls top finisher in an event this season.
Madison Caldwell carded a 4-over par 76. She rolled in 11 pars and two birdies during her final round. She tied for 44th at 4-over par 220.
Henriette Nielsen fired a 2-over par 74 in her final round as an Owl. The senior finished her career with a birdie on her final hole. She tied for 54th at 8-over par 224.
"Today we had a great time on the course and played aggressive golf to finish off the year," Brinsmead said. "I'm really happy with the tenacity and grit from Roanne and Henriette to fight all day and post sub-74 rounds."
Charlotte Charrayre shot a 4-over par 76 in the final round. Her 42 pars in the tournament were tied for the most in the field.
