JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Kennesaw State softball team fell 7-2 to Jacksonville in the opener of a three-game ASUN Conference series Saturday at The Debbie & Fred Pruitt Softball Complex in Jacksonville.
After the Owls (34-15, 12-3) took a 2-0 lead in the top half of the sixth inning, the Dolphins (24-24, 5-7) answered with seven runs, including four with two outs, in the bottom half of the frame to record the come-from-behind victory and snap KSU's five-game winning streak.
Starters
Alley Cutting and Alyssa Bilodeau were locked in a scoreless pitchers' duel for five innings before Kennesaw State finally broke through in the top of the sixth.
Alexa Solorzano gave the Owls a 2-0 lead with a two-out, two-run double that scored pinch-runner
Abbey Post and
Maddie Roth, who walked after
Patricia Awald opened the sixth inning with a single.
However, the Dolphins sent nine batters to the plate in the bottom half of the inning against Cutting (13-8) and
Abigail Green, scoring seven runs on six hits, including two home runs, and a walk.
Olivia Tamewitz and Awald had two hits apiece to lead the Owls' offense.
Kennesaw State concludes its regular season Sunday when it takes on Jacksonville in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
