ATHENS, Ga.- The No.45 Kennesaw State women's golf team closed out its regular season at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course on Saturday.

The Owls collected four wins over programs that ranked in the top 50 this week including No.11 Florida, No.28 Louisville and No.37 Ole Miss. KSU closes out the regular season with a 98-27 record. The Owls finished in the top 10 in every regular season event for the first time in program history. No.2 Alabama won the event with a 15-under par 562.
"Although we've had a truly impressive regular season today is the highlight of the year for me to this point," head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We approached today with a no holds back attitude knowing this was the last round before the conference championship and we wanted to leave it all on the course. And we sure took care of business! The energy and the execution all day was highly impressive. For Madison to wrap up the final round of the regular season with a 68 is so fitting for the great year she has had so far. Also for Henriette to birdie her 54th hole with an awesome shot over a tree to a tap-in par was just so much fun to watch. Our goal this event was to focus on our team energy and execution and I could not be more proud of these young women. The result here and the wins that we earned over some highly ranked teams will really solidify our postseason position. This event felt like an NCAA regional, and today we proved we are capable of going low against any field. This takes all the pressure off as we head into a conference championship knowing that we can focus on playing our best golf and winning another ASUN Championship."
Reigning ASUN Golfer of the Week,
Madison Caldwell shot a 4-under par 68 in the final round to finish tied for 14
th at 2-over par 218. The junior was the Owls top finisher for the fifth time this season. The final round 68 ties for the eighth best round in program history on a par 72 course. Today was the tenth time she shot par or better this season.
Henriette Nielsen posted a 1-over par 73 to finish tied for 21
st at 4-over par 220. Nielsen's total score matches her career-low 54-hole total that she recorded at the Johnie Imes Invitational in the fall.
Medy Thavong fired a 2-over par 74 to finish tied for 25
th at 5-over par 221. The junior closed her round with five consecutive pars.

We are looking forward to another solid week of practice as we prepare to earn another championship."
The Owls will head to Braselton, Ga. for the ASUN Championships Sunday-Tuesday (April 22-24) at the Chateau Elan Legends Club.
