Spartanburg, S.C. -- The Kennesaw State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision at USC Usptate on Saturday (Apr.14) at the Upstate Tennis Complex.
 
"Upstate played a solid match today," Director of Tennis Eduardo Rincon said. "They came out of the gates ready to play while we took a while to adjust. We did a good job catching up but it was a little too late. We can learn a lot from this match. We will hit the practice courts as soon as posible and start preparing for the conference tournament."
 
Upstate won two doubles matches and came out on top in three singles matches.
 
In doubles, KSU picked up a win from Lucas de Torres Curth and Corey Smith who defeated Fernando Bernardes and Samuel Schiano 6-3.
 
Lucas de Torres Curth (KSU) picked up his second straight match beating Francisco Neto 6-3, 6-3 at No.2 singles.
 
 The reigning ASUN Player of the Week, Fermin Calvo Barcelo was able to beat Felix Ewers  6-4, 7-6 (5-0) to win his 13th consecutive singles match at No.1 singles.
 
The Owls (8-10) return to action on Friday (Apr.20) in the ASUN Conference Tennis Tournament at the UNF Tennis Complex in Jacksonville (Fla.).
