-Â The Kennesaw State women's tennis team beat NJIT, 5-2, to collect its first ASUN win of the season Thursday at the Betty Siegel Courts.
The Owls honored seniors
Kennedy Craig,
Laura Hopton and
Alexandra Mercado during their final home match.
" Senior day is always a special occasion and these ladies really used the added motivation to get the job done today," said Assistant Head CoachÂ
Miranda Foley. "It's was a good team win. Getting the doubles point for the first time this season was a bonus and definitely helped moving into singles play. We had some big wins in singles especially and for Kenny to be the clincher today was a special moment. We will enjoy this one."

In doubles,
Jessica Cantrell and
Jada Tijani defeated Mayar Eltony and Alba Rosas Garcia, 6-3. The Owls clinched the point with
Alexandra Mercado and
Aspen Jarrett beating Amanda Helminsky Advaita Saravanan of NJIT 6-4.

Jada Tijani was the first singles match to finish as she rolled to a 7-5, 6-2 win over Natasha Minc at No. 6.Â
Alexandra Mercado was next in line, knocking off Advaita Saravanan 6-3, 6-3, at No. 1.
Jessica Cantrell bounced back after dropping the opening set to beat Rafaella Sampaio  5-7, 6-2, 6-1.
The Owls clinched the victory when senior
Kennedy Craig survived tiebreakers in both sets to beat Mayar Eltony  7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-2).

The Owls will head to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on USC Upstate at 2 p.m. on Saturday (Apr.12).
