KENNESAW, Ga. –
Noelle Winkles singled up the middle to drive home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Kennesaw State softball team to a 3-2 victory over North Florida on Saturday and complete a three-game ASUN Conference series sweep at Bailey Park.
Winkles capped a perfect day for the Owls (25-12, 5-1) as she went 2-for-2, walked and drove in a pair of runs.
Olivia Tamewitz, who scored the winning run following a leadoff single in the seventh, and
Kira Czyrklis also had two hits apiece.
After North Florida (20-20, 0-6) tied the score 2-2 with two outs in the seventh, Tamewitz opened the bottom half of the inning with a single up the middle, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on Winkles' single to center field that provided the Owls with the walk-off win.
Abigail Green (11-4), who relieved starter
Alley Cutting with two on and one out in the fifth inning, earned the victory after pitching 2 2/3 innings, allowing one hit, a run, walking one and striking out five.
Alexa Solorzano and
Lauren Bennett each hit safely in the game as Kennesaw State totaled eight hits.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday when they travel to nationally-ranked Auburn to take on the Tigers at 7 p.m. (ET).
