AUGUSTA, Ga. – Junior Pablo Rodriguez-Tabernero Torres carded rounds of 70-71 to lead the Kennesaw State men's golf team during Saturday's opening action of the 3M Augusta Invitational at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta.

Torres' 3-under par 144 helped the Owls to a 54-hole total of 1-over par 577 and a seventh-place standing in the 15-team field that includes eight teams ranked in Golfstat's top 60. Thirteenth-ranked Illinois (564, -12) is in first place and holds a six-shot lead over No. 51 Tennessee (570, -6).

"It was a bit of an up-and-down day today, but we finished strong and have a good opportunity for a run up the leaderboard," head coach Bryant Odom said. "I am really proud of the guys for maintaining their focus at the end of a long day of 36 holes."

Torres had an impressive conclusion to his second round as he birdied five of his final six holes to finish with a 2-under 70 and is tied for fourth place, five shots behind Illinois' Dylan Meyer, who leads the field with an 8-under par 136 total. After a pair of 69s, Tennessee's Lorenzo Scalise is second at 6-under par 138.

Juniors Jake Fendt (70-74) and Wyatt Larkin (71-73) are tied for 19th with even-par scores of 144. Sophomore Connor Coffee (78-70 – 148, +4) is tied for 48th, while freshman Brady Keran (79-79 – 158, +14) is 72nd.

The 3M Augusta Invitational concludes on Sunday with the Owls grouped with UCLA and USC Aiken beginning at 8:30 a.m. All the action can be followed live at www.golfstat.com.
