AUSTIN, Texas- Kennesaw State track and field's Jordan Gray  opened action at the 2018 Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

"I messed up and pushed Jordan too long after coming back from her injury," Director of Track and Field Andy Eggerth said. "I knew she was in deep fatigue when she opened outdoor with a 14.8 in the hurdles two weeks ago so we began dialing back. Her hurdles dropped by nearly half a second here and she had a big time PR in her shot put. Unfortunately, I had to pull her from the competition to prevent a lower extremity injury. We will get creative with training over the next several weeks to get her healthy and compete big when it matters."

Gray opened the meet with a time of 14.46 seconds in the 100m hurdles which was good for 16th.

She cleared 1.60m (5'3) in the high jump to finish 17th.

She had her best event of day in the shot put landing a throw of 13.86m (45'5.75) win the event. That throw set the school record for that event in the heptathlon.

The Owls are not finished at the Texas Relays as Dayo Akindele is scheduled to compete in the 110m hurdles, long jump and triple jump, Jocselyn Powell will compete in the 100m, and 400m hurdles.
