Kennesaw State begins conference play in Spartanburg, South Carolina at USC Upstate for a three-game series beginning on Thursday, March 29. The Owls are riding a five-game winning streak.
ON DECK
- Kennesaw State (13-12) will take on USC Upstate (12-12-1) to begin ASUN play beginning on Thursday, March 29. The Owls are 49-12 all time against the Spartans.
- The Owls are riding a five-game winning streak after beating Georgia State 15-9 on the road on Tuesday night. That is the longest winning streak for Kennesaw State this season.
- KSU's bats have been on fire through the five-game winning streak. They have been averaging 17.4 runs per game over that stretch and have scored at least 14 runs in the last four games.
- Against Georgia State, the Owls used two big innings where they scored six and seven runs to push past the Panthers in Atlanta. Kennesaw State had no home runs in the game, but did have five doubles.
- Against Grambling State, KSU scored 63 runs on 63 hits. Out of 22 team at bats, they scored at least one run in 17 of those frames.
- In the first two games against the Tigers, Kennesaw State scored over 20 runs. Counting those two games, the Owls have posted 20-plus runs four times in the DI era. It was the first time that KSU has scored over 20 runs two games in a row since 1994.
- Griffin Helms was named ASUN Player of the Week after going 8-12 from the plate with two home runs and 13 RBI. He finished the weekend with a slash of .667/1.417/.688. It was his first career player of the week award.
- Helms wasn't the only player that dominated from the plate last weekend. Six players batted over .500 for the weekend led by Terence Norman, who went 8-10 for the weekend. He scored nine runs and had four RBI.
- With the start last Friday by AJ Moore, he became the all-time leader in KSU Division I history in career starts. It was his 40th start total in an Owls uniform.
- Terence Norman is one of the team leaders hitting .342 for the season. During the five-game win streak, Norman is batting .667 going 12-18 with six RBI.
- With the win over Georgia State, head coach Mike Sansing sits 20 wins away from winning 1,000 career games as a member of the KSU family. Sansing holds a 980-563 (.634) record at Kennesaw State and a 1,082-591 (.642) all-time in 30 seasons. He is in his 27th season with the Owls.
