KENNESAW, Ga. –
Griffin Helms was named ASUN Player of the Week after Kennesaw State swept the Grambling State Tigers over the weekend, the conference office announced on Monday, March 26.
Â
Helms batted .667 going 8-12 with two home runs and 13 RBI. He finished the weekend with a slash of .667/1.417/.688.
Â
The Owls had a prolific weekend at the plate scoring 63 runs on 63 hits. They posted 20-plus runs in the first two games of the series. It was the first time since 1994 that KSU has scored over 20 runs two games in a row.
Â
Helms was a big part of that success as the senior catcher batted in 13 runs and scored five times himself.
Â
This is the first ASUN weekly award that Helms has won in his career.
Â
The Owls are now preparing for a midweek game at Georgia State on Tuesday, March 27. First pitch is at 6 p.m.
