BSB: Owls Host Grambling State for Weekend Series

Kennesaw State hosts Grambling State for a weekend series at Stillwell Stadium beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 22. The Owls (9-12) and Tigers (12-10) meet for the first time ever between the two programs. The Owls have won three straight weekend series at Stillwell.
 
ON DECK
  • Kennesaw State (9-12) hosts Grambling State (12-10) for a weekend series beginning Friday, March 23. This is the first meeting between the two teams.
  • The Owls enter the weekend having won three straight series at home. KSU has competed in 21 games, with 15 of them taking place at home in Kennesaw, Ga. Overall, the Owls are 8-7 at home.
  • KSU is batting .277 (88-318) in the last nine home games where the Owls went 9-2 and winning the last three series. The Owls are slugging .403 and have a .335 on-base percentage. 
  • At home, there are four players that hit over .300 led by LaDonis Bryant, who hits .342. The others are Tyler Simon (.333), Grant Williams (.321) and Jake Franklin (.300). 
  • With the start on Friday by AJ Moore, he becomes the all-time leader in KSU Division I history in career starts. It will be his 40th start total in an Owls uniform.
  • Overall, Bryant is batting .316 (18-57) with 10 runs scored, two doubles, two triples and seven RBI in 16 starts. He enters the weekend with a slash of .316/.474/.409 and is tied for first on the team with four stolen bases. 
  • Simon sits behind Bryant with a .303 batting average (10-33) in 12 games of action. At home, he is batting even higher, hitting .333 (6-18) appearing in eight games. 
  • The Owls are 4-1 in Friday night starts this season.
  • With one win over Oklahoma, head coach Mike Sansing sits 24 wins away from winning 1,000 career games as a member of the KSU family. Sansing holds a 976-563 (.634) record at Kennesaw State and a 1,078-591 (.642) all-time in 30 seasons. He is in his 27th season with the Owls.
