THE STORYLINE: 
· LHP Ryan Kennedy's strong outing could not out-duel Mercer's Lefty Christian Vann, as Kennesaw State dropped a hard-fought 4-0 decision Tuesday night at Stillwell Stadium to non-conference foe Mercer.
· With the loss, the Owls fell to 4-5 overall on the season while the Bears improved to 7-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
· What turned into a pitchers' duel between Vann and Kennedy, both proved to be sharp in their outings.
· Kennedy, a Winchester, Va., native, tossed a career-high 4.1 frames, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out four Bears.
· Mercer's Vann countered Kennedy's strong showing, allowing two hits and striking out seven in 6.2 frames of work.
· The Bears jumped ahead with a run in the third and doubled their lead with another in the fifth, taking a 2-0 lead into the last third of the ballgame.
· Mercer added two insurance runs with a two-out, two-run RBI double into left center field, extending its lead to 4-0 in the top of the ninth. 
· Owls' Logan Hutchinson (1.0 IP), Brian Exley (0.2 IP), Jordan Krueger (1.0 IP), Cooper Mayhall (0.2 IP), Will Bice (0.1 IP) tossed scoreless outings out of the bullpen.
·  Seniors Taylor Allum (2-for-3) and Griffin Helms (1-for-3) paced Kennesaw State's offense on the night.

UP NEXT
Kennesaw State now turns the bus towards Macon, Ga., to take on the Bears for the second night in a row. The two clubs are scheduled to begin its non-conference affair at OrthoGeorgia Park, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
