Las Vegas, NV. – The No.42 Kennesaw State women's golf team sits in second place after 36 holes of the Rebel Beach at the par-72, 6,380-yard Spanish Trail Country Club.
The Owls recorded 2-over par 290 in the opening round and 13-over par 301 in the second round for a 15-over par total 591, one shot behind UNLV, which leads the 12-team field.
"Overall we placed ourselves in a good position heading into the final round being one shot back of the lead," head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Execution-wise, we definitely left some shots out there on the par fives, but I'm proud of the way the team battled particularly in the afternoon when the wind started to really gust up to 30mph. I'm so proud of Clara in her return to the lineup. She's worked hard and deserves to be leading this event after two rounds. This lineup is so rich in talent we fully expect to go out there tomorrow and come away with a win. It's important that we play smart golf and know when to be aggressive and when par is a good score."
