NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the second year in a row, the Kennesaw State and Belmont men's tennis match came down to the finals singles match as the Owls (0-2) came out on the short end of a 4-3 decision to the Bruins (2-4) on Friday inside the Centennial Sportsplex.
 
"We played a tough and experienced Belmont team," Director of Tennis Eduardo Rincon said. "We grinded out the doubles point with clutch play from the twos and threes. Everyone competed hard especially Bryan and Drew won in doubles and both won in singles."
 
The doubles' teams of Corey Smith and Harrison Wood (6-4) and Drew Lahey and Bryan Triana (6-4) jumpstarted KSU's day, earning a point after winning the final two doubles matches over the Bruins to help the Owls jump out to a 1-0 lead.
 
After the Bruins took the first three singles matches, the Owls responded as Triana (6-3, 6-4)  picked up a win over Zak Khan at No.4 singles. Moments later, Lahey (6-4, 6-3) beat David Faulkner at No.5 singles. The Bruins secured the win at No.6 singles to take the match.
 
 "We have a quick turnaround for Sunday's match at Lifetime Fitness, but I am confident in the way we are sticking the ball and competing," Rincon said.
 
The Owls will host Liberty at 9 a.m. on Sunday on the indoor courts at Lifetime Fitness in Peachtree Corners, Georgia due to inclement weather that is expected in the Kennesaw area on Sunday.
