Owls Travel To Georgia Tech For A Sunday Matinee

Game Day Storylines
• Kennesaw State (3-7) is coming off a 3-day break after falling to Georgia State on Dec. 13, 79-73 in overtime. It was the first overtime game for the Owls since beating Georgia Southern on Dec. 15, 2017.
• Jim Kiritsy and his wife, Bree, will serve as guest coaches this afternoon. Jim is the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the KSU football team while Bree is an Olympian skier.
• Georgia Tech represents the fifth of five opponents the Owls will play from the state of Georgia. KSU is finishing playing four straight games against teams from the Peach State.  
• A win over Georgia Tech will improve Kennesaw State to 3-2 versus in-state opponents following victories over Middle Georgia State (80-70) and Georgia Southern (78-59).
• KSU is looking for its first-ever victory against the Yellow Jackets.
• Rookie guard Amani Johnson has made an impact early in her collegiate career as she opened the season with back-to-back ASUN Conference Freshman of the Week honors.
• Following her career performance of 20 points and 13 rebounds against Georgia Southern, Simina Avram earned the ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors.
• Head coach Agnus Berenato, who is in her 32nd season as a Division I head coach, is in her third year leading the Owls. She has an all-time record of 464-459 (.503), and guided Kennesaw State to the ASUN Conference semifinals in 2017. 
• Kennesaw State has produced the last two ASUN Conference Freshmen of the Year in Carlotta Gianolla (2017) and Kamiyah Street (2018). Both players were unanimous picks.
• KSU returns three players who earned ASUN Conference postseason honors following the 2017-18 season. Forward Carlotta Gianolla garnered all-academic honors, while Kamiyah Street and Alexis Poole were named to the all-freshman team. Street also was a second team all-conference selection. 

Georgia Tech Notes
• Georgia Tech is currently 7-2 on the season and is coming off a 69-42 win against Alabama State on Dec. 5.  
• The Yellow Jackets have two players scoring in double figures this season. Francesca Pan leads the squad netting 15.8 points per contest while Elizabeth Balogun scores 11.9 ppg.  
• Pan ranks 39th in the nation and fourth in the ACC with 25 total steals.
• As a team, the Yellow Jackets average 13.1 steals per game, which checks in at 11th in the country and tops the ACC.
• Georgia Tech forces 23.56 turnovers per game this season, which paces the ACC and is 13th in the country.
• Tech ranks first in the ACC with a +6.0 turnover margin. 

Series
• Sunday's match-up will mark the 12th meeting between Kennesaw State and Georgia Tech, and the Yellow Jackets lead the series 11-0. GT claimed the victory last year, 86-48

Georgia State Recap
• The Owls fell 79-73 against Georgia State inside the GSU Sports Arena
• It was the first overtime game for Kennesaw State since vs. Georgia Southern (12/15/17)
• On the Owls second possession of overtime, Gianolla made a free-throw line jumper to take the first lead of overtime, 69-67. The Panthers went on a 5-0 with that started just before a minute to go and continued to the 51 second mark that would be final lead of the game.
• The Owls had 20 points in the paint in the first half
• In the first half, the Kennesaw State offense scored on 45.9 percent of its possessions
• KSU finished with four players in double figures (Street- 17 , Johnson- 15, Poole- 14  and Carlotta Gianolla- 14)
• It was the first overtime game of the season for Kennesaw State
• Owls led for 31 minutes and 38 seconds in the contest
• KSU made 30 field goals to GSU's 26 made field goals
