Owls Wrap Up Play at Roberta Alison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Five members of the KSU women's tennis team competed in the Roberta Alison Fall Classic on (Oct.26-27) on the campus of the University of Alabama.

"It's always exciting to watch the team put into action all the things we have been working on each week," assistant coach Kirsten Lewis said. "We had some tough competition and the team is definitely getting better at competing consistently at a higher level. Overall, we had some good wins in both singles and doubles. I was very happy for Aspen who took huge strides and picked up some good wins against tough opponents. We are looking forward to getting back to work and finishing our fall season on a high note at Furman next weekend."
Each player completed in three singles and three doubles matches.

In singles action, KSU got wins from all five players. Jessica Cantrell and Aspen Jarrett paced the Owls with two wins each. Cantrell beat McKenzie Moorehead of Kentucky 6-2, 6-2 and Mizuki Sakurai Ā from UT Martin 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5).Jarrett grabbed a pair of wins against Christina Zordani from Wisconsin 6-3,6-4Ā  and Andrea Plantada of UT-Martin 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3).

Ā The doubles team of Brenna Reilly and Jessica Cantrell continued their strong fall reaching the finals of their doubles draw with a pair of victories over teams from Indiana and UT Martin.

The Owls are back on the court to close out the fall season at the Furman Duals Nov.2-4 in Greenville, S.C.
