WEST POINT, Miss. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team won the Magnolia Invitational on Tuesday (Oct. 16).
The final round of the tournament was canceled due to heavy rains.
"This is a huge win for the program and I am so proud of the team for earning this," head coach
Rhyll Brinsmead said. "Other than conference championships, this win is our best in history. To earn wins over power five schools ranked inside the top 30 is a testament to just how good this team is. They work so hard every day and to watch them enjoy this moment and the smiles on their faces is what it is all about. Every player contributed a score to this win and leading wire to wire is hard to do. I am so happy for us and for what this means to Kennesaw State University."
KSU picked up a one shot win with rounds of 288-283 for a 5-under par total of 571. The score of 571 is the lowest 36-hole team score in program history on a par-72 course. The Owls win was the eighth in program history and third in the last two seasons. KSU grabbed the win over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn and Kansas State among others.
