WEST POINT, Miss. - The Kennesaw State women's golf team posted a 5-under par 283 to grab a one-shot lead after the second round of the Magnolia Invitational on Monday.

"What a great day on the course," Kennesaw State head coach Rhyll Brinsmead said. "We battled with Ole Miss and Mississippi State all day and the quality of golf was exceptional. I am so proud of this team for their approach today. Ole Miss and Mississippi State had a big crowd of home state supporters and the team handled that pressure so well. Three under-par rounds (68, 69 & 71) is stellar and we have earned the right to be leading at this point. We have an opportunity tomorrow to win this event and I'm looking forward to seeing this team get after it."

KSU's round tied for the third-lowest score on a par-72 course. The Owls round was the lowest of the tournament and are one of two teams under par overall. The Owls continue to sit ahead of Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, LSU, Auburn and Kansas State among others.
Roanne Tomlinson and Clara Aveling are tied for third at 3-under par 141. Tomlinson carded a season-low round of 4-under par 68, while Aveling recorded a 3-under 69. The duo combined to roll in nine birdies and 25 pars in the second round.

Charlotte Charraye recorded a 3-over par 75 and is tied for 16th at 1-over par 145. Her 27 pars are tied for second-most in the field through two rounds.

Madison Caldwell shot a 3-over par 75 and is tied for 30th with a 4-over par total of 148.

Freshman Chloe Thornton bounced back with a 1-under par 71 on Monday. She sits in a tie for 38th at 6-over par 150.

The Owls will conclude play at the Magnolia Invitational on Tuesday (Oct.16). KSU will tee off at 9  a.m. ET with Mississippi State and Oklahoma.
