MACON, Ga.
– Kennesaw State returned to action Wednesday suffering a 6-1 setback to Georgia Southern Wednesday (Jan.31) at the John Drew Tennis Center in Macon.

Alexandra Mercado led the way for the Owls as she posted a victory at No. 3 singles, defeating Emilia Bujan, 6-3, 6-3.

Mercado and Jessica Cantrell battled hard in their doubles match before falling 7-6(5) in a tiebreaker.

After dropping her opening set 6-4, Kennedy Craig picked up a 6-3 win in the second set. She would fall 10-8 in a very tight third-set tiebreaker.

"Georgia Southern played a solid match today," director of tennis Eduardo Rincon said. "We missed some pivotal points in all three courts in doubles, and those turned out to be crucial. In singles, the Eagles did a good job early and got ahead. Alexandra (Mercado) played some good tennis today and beat a solid player."

Kennesaw State will be off until Feb. 6 when it travels to Mercer for an 11 a.m. match at the Leroy Petty Tennis Center.
