WBB: Gianolla Leads Owls With 15 Points at USC Upstate

Kamiyah Street, Clara Young Add 14 Points Apiece

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Sophomore Carlotta Gianolla scored a game-high tying 15 points to lead the Kennesaw State women's basketball team during a 65-61 loss to USC Upstate Saturday at the G.B. Hodge Center in Spartanburg, S.C.
 
Freshman Kamiyah Street just missed her second straight double-double, scoring 14 points and adding a game-high nine rebounds, while senior Clara Young scored 14 points, collected a season-high six rebounds and dished out six assists for the Owls (5-12, 1-5).
 
STORYLINE
The Owls opened the game with an 8-0 run and led by as many as 10 points in the first quarter. However, the Spartans (7-14, 2-4) chipped away at the lead and trailed 28-27 at halftime. USC Upstate began the second half with a 9-0 run to take a 37-28 lead 2:16 into the third quarter. The Spartans outscored KSU 22-17 in the period to take a 49-45 advantage into the fourth quarter. USC Upstate shot 50 percent (9-for-18) from the field and turned eight Kennesaw State turnovers into 12 points in the third quart.er
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Street scored in double figures for the 11th straight game and led the Owls in rebounding for the fourth time this season, while Young started her 68th career game to move into sole possession of sixth place on Kennesaw State's Division I all-time games started list. With six assists, Young has 231 and is three away from moving into a tie with Angie Smith (2008-11) for second place on the program's Division I career assist chart.

UP NEXT
The Owls return to the KSU Convocation Center on Thursday to host NJIT at 11 a.m. It will mark Education Day as over 1,000 elementary school children will be in attendance.
